Despite all odds, Chidinma Adesthina, representing Nigeria has emerged as the first runner-up at the just concluded Miss Universe pageantry.
The grand finale was held at Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Mexico.
NPO Reports that the Victoria Kjaer Theilvig, representing Denmark was announced as the winner, succeeding Miss Universe 2023, Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua.
Alongside Adetshina and Theilvig, contestants from Bolivia, Mexico, Venezuela, Argentina, Puerto Rico, Russia, Chile, Thailand, Canada, and Peru were among the top 12 finalists.
She made her way to the top 30 finalists and gradually rose to the top five contenders.
NPO Reports thatAdetshina who is born to a Nigerian father and Mozambican mother had faced bullying from South Africans particularly relating to her ties to the country.
Following this, she withdrew from the Miss South Africa pageant.
Meanwhile, the Silverbird Group, organizers of Miss Universe Nigeria, extended an invitation for her to compete.
It was on this platform she represented Nigeria on the global stage and ultimately won the national title.
Her achievement as first runner-up is a proud moment for Nigeria, marking a historic milestone in the country’s pageant history.
