Amidst grinding economic hardships, President Bola Tinubu on Monday hinted of his readiness to implement the 12 year old Oronsanye report which recommended reduced cost of governance.
To this end, the President is set to scrap some agencies of the Federal Government while it will merge many.
The Orosanye Committee was set up by the federal government with a mandate to recommend for restructuring and rationalization, FGN’s parastatals, commissions and agencies. It was part of moves 12 years ago to reduce the cost of governance.
Giving this hint on Monday, Special Adviser to the President on Information Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed that many agencies of the federal government will be scrapped while others will be merged.
Onanuga said via his X handle, “Twelve years after the Steve Oronsaye panel submitted its report on restructuring and rationalizing Federal government parastatals and agencies and a white paper issued two years after, President Tinubu and the Federal Executive Council today decided to implement the report. Many agencies will be scrapped and many others will be merged, to pave way to a leaner government,”
Details of the latest development, according to Onanuga, will be made available late.
