A Federal High Court Sitting in Lagos has ruled that Dr Bola Aseyan has a case to answer as regards the false rape accusations against Twitter influencer and UK-based doctor, Olufunmilayo Ogunsanya.
This was made known by Human Rights Lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, @InibeheEffiong on Wednesday.
Recall that in 2020, Aseyan claimed in a thread of tweets that Ogunsanya raped her and emotionally abused her while they cohabited together in the UK.
It is also important to note that the duo were romantically involved before their relationship fell apart.
Mr Ogunsanya had however faced a series of humiliations, including the revocation of his medical licence over three years

However, it was finally determined in July 2023 that Ms Aseyan’s sexual assault accusations could not be proved as she was inconsistent in her account of the alleged rape and didn’t have sufficient evidence to buttress her claims.
The tweet read;
“The Federal High Court in Lagos today ruled that Dr Bolanle Aseyan has a case to answer in the cyberstalking criminal charge brought against her over the false rape accusations she made on X in 2020 against @DrOlufunmilayo.
“Following the close of the case of the prosecution, Bolanle had filed a No Case Submission stating that based on the evidence adduced against her by the police, there was no need for her to enter her defence or say anything.
“The Court today ruled that she has a case to answer and that she must defend herself.
The case has been adjourned to April 16, 2024, for Ms. Bolanle Aseyan to open her defence.
Recall that Dr Funmi was exonerated by both the Metropolitan Police and the Medical Board in the UK for the same false allegations.
