Afrobeats artist and producer, David Adeleke fondly known as davido has held Atlanta spellbound midnight Saturday to Sunday as he made good his promise to give his best through his long held dream tagged “Are We African Yet? (A.W.A.Y) Festival.”
The singer had started the show with his OVER DEM sending the entire crowd into ecstacy.
The music star had recently disclosed to Apple Music’s Zane Lowe in an interview that the festival is to provide a platform for upcoming artistes.
“Why I want to do this is because when I was going out in America and I hear a song, I am like, ‘this is an African song.
“So I was excited and told my friends that this is a young guy that is coming up. I hit the young guy up that I was in the club last night and they played your song. He was like, no way!
“So I want to give those types of people the opportunity to come every year, at different times to perform.” He said.
In a recent tweet on X, he stated how he has been dreaming about this for a long time.

“I’ve been dreaming of this moment for a long, long time. To never have played my own show in Atlanta and then have our first one be the festival I’m throwing at
@StateFarmArena. It feels perfect to me.
“Let’s have a TIMELESS night we’ll never forget.” Davido said.
The official X account of the venue which the festival is set to hold, State Farm Arena, @StateFarmArena, replied to the announcement saying;
“It feels perfect to us too.”
Last year, Davido postponed what was meant to be the maiden edition of AWAY festival following the passing of his son, Ifeanyi Adeleke.
The festival is however set to be held on Saturday, November 18, in Atlanta, Georgia.
