As Governor Inspects Vandalised Bridge

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has sent a note of warning to suspected vandals as he vowed to ensure they face the full force of law when arrested.
Sanwo-Olu gave the warning following his inspection of vandalised FESTAC- Alakija Bridge.
NPO Reported that the Lago State Government had on Friday arrested 27 suspects over the vandalisation of the bridge.
The state government officials discovered of extensive vandalism beneath the newly constructed bridge linking Festac Town and Alakija during a raid operation.
The suspected hoodlums removed iron rods, steel reinforcements, cables and other structural materials from the bridge.
Sanwo-Olu had in reaction decried the spate of vandalism in the state which he labelled as barbaric.
The governor would in furtherance of his condemnation of the action visit the bridge on Saturday for inspection.
He allayed concern over the state of the bridge as he assured residents that it is structurally sound and ready to use.
‘Earlier today, I inspected the Alakija Bridge following an attempt by vandals to damage part of the structure. Let me reassure Lagosians that the bridge is safe, structurally sound and ready for use.
‘There is no cause for alarm. I commend our security teams across the Police, RRS, Task Force, KAI and Neighbourhood Safety Corps for acting quickly to secure the area.
‘Some of those involved are already in custody, and we are going after the rest.’ Sanwo-Olu wrote in a post shared on his X handle after the inspection.
The governor thereafter warned against any further attempt to destroy public infrastructures in the state.
He also reiterated his administration’s commitment to the cleaning up exercise along the Lagos-Badagary corridor.
‘Let me be clear, anyone who attempts to destroy public infrastructure in Lagos will face the full force of the law.
‘We are also keeping our commitment to the Lagos-Badagry Expressway corridor.
‘The ongoing clean-up is already making a visible difference, and the work will continue. We all have a role to play in keeping Lagos safe and protecting what belongs to all of us.’ He wrote.
