Goods worth millions of Naira have been destroyed on Wednesday when a section of the popular Idumota Market Lagos Island went up on flames again.
Mostly affected were the Nnamdi Azikiwe and Docemo sections of the every busy market.
Men of the Lagos state Fire service who battled to put the fire out, finally did but not until three major buildings had been burnt badly.
Traders in the affected sections deal mostly in cloths, shoes and bags.
“The Fire stations at Ebute Elefun, Ilupeju and Alausa have deployed resources to mitigate the situation effectively as firefighting operations is ongoing,” said Fire Service boss, Margaret Adeseye.
“The cause of the Fire is yet to be determined, and investigations are ongoing. Casualties have not been confirmed at this time.”
Adeseye urged residents to cooperate with emergency personnel and avoid the area for their safety.
