The Kano state government on Wednesday said some disgruntled politicians within and outside Kano state are the forces pushing the deposed Emir, Aminu Ado Bayero to contest his deposition.
Bature Sanusi, spokesman of Governor Kabir Abba Yusuff said that at the centre of the current impasse over the Kano emirate is politics.
Speaking on a live programme on Arise TV, Sanusi the reinstated Emir, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, remains the Emir of Kano and will continue to discharge the duties of his office until otherwise stated.
The Governor’s spokesman said for now, Bayero remains a private citizen with no rightys whatsoever to occupy a government property.
Asked why the government must demolish the Nasarawa GRA palace where Bayero currently stays, Sanusi said apart from the fact that it is illegal for the deposed Emir to live in the property, he said the annex palace is defective being a mud building that had not been renovated over decades.
“For the fact that he remains deposed, he remains as a private citizen like every other citizen of Kano, he should not be in any way be seen to occupy a government property,” Sanusi said
He said the government does not have to wait till anything untoward happens, adding that Bayero “forcefully entered there by himself for over a month now.”
He said that after the deposition, the governor had given all the emirs deposed 48 hours to vacate the palaces they occupied.
He added “Ado Bayero, in his own wisdom, decided to remove his family and personal belongings. I was there the palace was empty when Emir Sanusi entered. But few hours after, some unpatriotic politicians from in and outside Kano decided to ignite him to come back to Kano and start a fight which is quiet unnecessary.”
The governor’s spokesman it is the “unpatriotic politicians” that are behind the decision by Bayero to go to court to challenge his removal.
He said Bayero should emulate Sanusi who did not put up any fight after his removal by the Umaru Ganduje administration.
NPO Reports that Sanusi was deposed and banished from Kano by the Ganduje administration.
Sanusi added that
