The operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have raided an arms manufacturing workshop, arresting suspected arms dealer, Musa Abubakar, in Plateau state.
Abubakar who was alleged to be a key arms dealer linked to armed groups in the state and other part of the north was reportedly apprehended last week Wednesday at the workshop located in the Mista Ali area of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau.
As disclosed by a source for the DSS, the raid followed a precise intelligence received on the activities of the suspect.
Abubakar was reported to have confessed manufacturing and distributing weapons to armed groups across the state and the northern region.
In the course of his arrest, several Improvised Explosive Device (IED) components, chemicals, and other equipment were recovered from his workshop.
“The suspect confessed to having manufactured and distributed high-caliber weapons and ammunition to armed groups involved in violent attacks in Plateau State and other northern regions.
‘Abubakar was apprehended red-handed with various Improvised Explosive Device (IED) components, chemicals, and equipment, which have all been confiscated by DSS operatives.” The source said.
The suspected arms dealer’s arrest came shortly after the recapture of Abdulazeez Obadaki, aka Bomboy, a Kuje Prison escapee who masterminded Owo and Deeperlife Church attacks.
It could also be recalled that the DSS arrested a total of 9 high-profile suspects involved in the Plateau and Benue attacks including Timna Manjol (46), who already pleaded guilty to two of four count charges including illegal possession of firearms in a charge marked FHC/ABJ/CR/451/2025. Manjo, of First Baptist Chuch, Mangu LGA, Plateau State.
The operational successes recorded by the DSS, according to reports, displayed the agency’s commitment to combating terrorism and enhancing national security.
