The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has approached the Court of Appeal over the judgment of Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Abuja Federal High Court ordering the release of 27 houses to James Ikechukwu Okwete, his company Jamec West Africa Limited.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday on the EFCC’s official X handle.
According to the statement, the anti-graft agency had in a Notice Of Appeal filed at the Court of Appeal, Abuja Division in Suit No: FHC/ABJ/CS/348/2025, expressed dissatisfaction with the decision of the trial court delivered on October 31, 2025. on the matter.
The EFCC Counsel, Abba Mohammed (SAN) sought two Orders of the Court of Appeal on the matter:
Mohammed sought an order of the appellate court staying execution of the judgment of the Federal High Court delivered on the 31st day of October 2025 pending the hearing and determination of the appeal filed on the 1st day of December 2025 against the judgment.
The EFCC counsel’s second order extended the provision of the first order to other further orders as the likely to be made by the Federal High Court.
The matter is however awaiting hearing at the Court of Appeal
