The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have nabbed 12 suspected illegal Bureau de Change (BDC) operators in Lagos state.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the EFCC’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale.
According to Oyewale, the suspects were apprehended on Wednesday following credible intelligence and surveillance by the EFCC operatives attached to the Lagos Zonal Directorate 1.
He said the individuals were allegedly operating BDCs without the required licences.
Items recovered from them include cash and exotic jewelry.
The EFCC vowed to arraigned the suspects to court following the conclusion of investigation.
The statement read; “Operatives of the Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, have arrested 12 suspected illegal Bureau de Change BDC operators.“They were arrested on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, following credible intelligence and thorough surveillance regarding their alleged operation of BDCs without requisite licences.
“Items recovered from them include cash and exotic jewelleries.
“The suspects are currently undergoing further investigation and will be arraigned in court soon.”
