The Deputy Speaker, Ekiti Youth Parliament, Oluwadamilola Fatimah Agbaje has died just few weeks before she was due to be called to bar.
As announced in a post on X by her brother, Olufemi Talabi, the late Deputy Speaker reportedly passed away on the 11th of June.
While the cause of her death was undisclosed, tributes have since flown over the demise of the youth leader.
Also paying tribute to Agbaje in a post on his X handle on Sunday, Kayode Fayemi expressed his sadness over the passing of the lady who was one of the winners of his inaugural JFK Essay Competition.
The ex-Ekiti governor described her as a truly brilliant and inspiring young woman while lauding her intellect, courage, and vision.
He further described her her death as a painful one as he extended his condolences to her family and friends.
“I am deeply saddened by the passing of Oluwadamilola Fatimat Agbaje, a truly brilliant and inspiring young woman. I remember her vividly as one of the winners of the inaugural JKF Essay Competition at just 16 years old. That moment marked the beginning of what became a remarkable journey of excellence and service.
“Oluwadamilola embodied the very ideals we hoped to celebrate through that competition: intellect, courage, purpose, and vision.
“Her achievements as a top law graduate, debater, youth leader, and advocate were extraordinary. She represented the very best of Ekiti’s promise.
“Her loss is a painful one, but her legacy will continue to inspire many. My thoughts are with her family, friends, and all who were touched by her light.” Fayemi wrote.
According to report, Agbaje was a distinguished legal scholar and youth parliamentarian.
She graduated as the best student of the 2018–2023 session of Elizade University’s Faculty of Law with a CGPA of 4.86 out of 5.00 and receiving the Founder’s List award for four consecutive years.
Coupled with her role as Ekiti State Youth Parliament’s Deputy Speaker, she served as Deputy Majority Leader of the 3rd Parliament of the Legislative Mentorship Initiative founded by Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
She was also a planning committee member for the upcoming 2025 International Law Organization Annual Conference.
