The former presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, Engr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has visited the suspended member of Senate, Abdul Ahmed Ningi in his residence.
NPO Reports that Ningi, who was the chairman of the Northern Senators’ Forum was suspended by his colleagues last week over allegations that he brought the senate to disrepute.
Ningi had alleged padding of the 2024 budget saying that what the Senate passed and approved by President Bola Tinubu is not what is being operated by the presidency.
After failing to convince his colleagues of the veracity of his claims, he was suspended from the senate for three months.
Ningi represents Bauchi Central in the upper chamber of the National Assembly. He had alleged that a sum of N3.7 trillion was inserted into the 2024 budget.
The purpose of Kwankwaso’s visit was not disclosed but NPO Reports reliably gathered that it might not be unconnected with contact building in the North ahead of next general election.
Kwankwaso, who contested against the incumbent President Bola Tinubu is believed to still be nursing his presidential ambition with contact-building said to be in progress.
