The family of veteran Nollywood actress, Peju Ogunmola, has confirmed the death of her son, Ayomikun Omobolanle, who passed away on Tuesday.
NPO Reported that the demise of Peju Ogunmola’s only child was announced in a post shared on Instagram, throwing the Nollywood industry into another state of mourning.
While fans and her colleagues had been extending their condolences since the news of Ayomikun’s passing, the actress’ family however confirmed his death in a statement issued on Friday.
The family, in the statement issued by their spokesperson, Yemi Amodu, described the late Ayomikun as a rising star whose light touched many lives.
While maintaining that his death is a profound loss to them, the family clarified the cause of his death.
As against claims that he died from a bathroom accident, Peju Ogunmola’s family explained that he died in a hospital in Ibadan, Oyo state, after prolonged illness.
“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved son, Sola Ayomikun Omobolanle (son of Sunday and Peju Ogunmola Omobolanle), a jewel, a precious child, and a rising star whose light shone brightly and touched many lives. His departure is a profound loss to our family and to all who knew and loved him.
“We wish to clearly state that Sola did not pass away as a result of any bathroom accident, contrary to false reports being circulated online. He was briefly unwell and, during this period, received first-class medical care. Despite the best efforts of the medical team, he peacefully answered the call of his creator at a hospital in Ibadan and has since been laid to rest at Eternal Rest Home.” the statement read.
The family strongly warned against the spread of misinformation which, according to them, dishonoured Ayomikun’s memory.
“These misleading stories, suggesting that Sola died from a fall in the bathroom without help, are entirely false. They not only dishonour his memory but also bring unnecessary pain to his loved ones.
“They concluded by expressing appreciation for the outpouring of love and support, while praying that no other family would have to experience such a painful and untimely loss.” They added.
