It was a mournful moment on Thursday in Ibadan as family members of those who died or were injured in the January 16th 2024 explosions in the Bodija area of Ibadan marked one year remembrance.
At a memorial service held at the Baptist Church, Bodija, residents of the area had started coming into the church at 1pm for the special service in honour of those who died when explosives went off from a building on Adeyi Avenue, killing at least five persons and injuring many others.
As the officiating pastor spoke families fought hard to hold back tears as they recalled the tragedy that struck exactly a year ago.
Properties worth billions of Naira were estimated to have been destroyed in the incident.
As at Thursday when the NPO Reports Correspondent moved round the areas affected, many of the buildings still stood with scars of the explosions.
Some of the buildings have been reconstructed.
Among those who spoke with the NPO Reports on Thursday was the Chief Security Officer of the Brimo Mosque, a retired Police Inspector who recalled how the explosions causes confusion in the entire Ibadan metropolis on that fateful day.
