Ovono unfortunately passed away despite quick intervention by paramedics.
“On the 6th of October in New York, a Nigerian man was working, doing deliveries with his e-bike around 7:30 at night when he ran into a pole in the Bronx.
“I don’t know maybe it was too dark. This man ran into a pole and of course he was thrown of the bike.
“Unfortunately, he landed on his head. I really don’t know if he is wearing helmet or not but he landed on his head and sustained major injury.
“The ambulance rushed him to the hospital. But unfortunately, he didn’t make it.” Fayehun narrated.
According the media personality, the cousin of the deceased who invited him to the US and reached out to had opened a GoFundMe account for his funeral as he had no life insurance.
They are said to have only managed to raise $1,500 out of the $8,000 demanded by the funeral homes for his burial.
Fayehun solicited for financial assistance as for the family with the GoFundMe account link which read https//gofund.me/ 53ce1 attach to the post as she expressed her sadness over the death.
“It is so unfortunate. I can’t even emerging what his family is going through right now.
“You know we all come to this country hoping for a better life.
“His cousin was the one that reached out to me on behalf of the family.
“The cousin is also here in America and she is going through a lot herself.
“They reached out to me because he didn’t have life insurance and they’ve been trying to raise fund for his funeral.
“They are not even trying to take his body to Nigeria. Just to bury him here. It’s very expensive to hold a funeral in America.
“The funeral home alone is asking for more than $8,000. They’ve been able to raise $1,500 on their GoFundMe page.
“So, I’m reaching out on behalf of the family. If anybody at all can please them. They don’t know what else to do.” Fayehun said.
