There is panic across the city of Jos, the Plateau State capital late Sunday evening as some gunmen were said to have struck in some areas of the city killing residents.
As at the time of filing this report, NPO Reports could not confirm the rate of casualties as many people were said to have been rushed to hospitals after being shot.
A Jos resident who spoke with NPO Reports correspondent on telephone confirmed that there is tension in her area.
“We’re inside the house and we are fine for now as we are trying to get information about where exactly residents are being attacked. But we are advised to stay indoors.” The resident who pleaded anonymity told us.
Further findings indicate that the first set of gunshots were fired at Angwa Rukuba Junction where gunmen reportedly opened fire on a group of people. No one could say how many died on the spot.
Meanwhile, graphic videos shared on X showed several bodies lying in the pool of their own blood following the attack.
Another clip showed a woman clinging on the body of a dead relative.
Some locales were also reported to have resorted to reprisal attacks on nothern travellers shortly after the incident, creating chaos across the community.
While the state government had since declared a 48-hour curfew on the community, the actual number of casualties is yet to be ascertained.
