Says Party Can Do Better on Internal Democracy
- Safiu Kehinde
Former Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has dismissed speculations of possible exit from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This is coming under the heels of the defection of former Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai, from the the ruling party to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
El-Rufai’s dumping of the APC had raised rumours other APC members, who are at odd with the party, following suit.
Reacting to the speculations in a post on his X handle on Monday, Fayemi maintained that he is a card carrying foundation member of the APC And nothing has changed.
The ex-Minister, however, urged the ruling party to do better on its internal democracy and inclusion.
“My attention has been drawn to a story circulating on several online platforms regarding my defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“As I have had cause to state in the past, I am a card carrying foundation member of the APC and this position has not changed.
“While I have been at the vanguard of demand for greater internal democracy and inclusion in the ruling party, I believe it is still not late for our party to change course and move towards greater inclusion and internal democracy.” Fayemi wrote.
