There are fears of clash between protesters who are saying there should be no protests and those who are bent of registering Nigerians’ anger over the worsening state of the economy.
The protests on both sides got underway on Thursday as marchers had gathered at the Ikeja Underbridge while those in support of the government had arrived at the Alausa area of Ikeja.
NPO Reports that policemen are closely providing covers for the pro-protests marchers as the chanted liberation songs at the venue Thursday morning.
Along the Awolowo Way, Ikeja, hundreds of protesters were seen chanting anti-government songs; lamenting the economic situation in the country.
NPO Reports also reliably gathered that senior police officers are moving to ensure understanding between the two groups to avert clash.
At the Eagle Square in Abuja, the situation is calm as no protesters have come. However stern looking security men have taken over the venue which was one of the original venues listed for the protests.
In Osogbo, protesters have gathered at the Freedom Park to commence their protests.
