The Federal Government is set to arraign the suspects arrested over the multiple killings in Yelewata town in Benue State.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by the Special Adviser to the President on (Communication and Publicity) for the office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Kamarudeen Ogundele.
According to Ogundele, the suspects will arraigned before Justice Joyce Abdul-Malik of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Monday.
This, he claimed, coming after the conclusion of investigation on the suspects.
The statement read; “Some suspects arrested and strongly linked to the killings in Yelwata, a town in Benue State, will be arraigned tomorrow (Monday, February 2) to answer for their crimes.
“They will be arraigned before Justice Joyce Abdul-Malik of the Federal High Court, Abuja.
“This comes after a painstaking investigation and collaboration by government agencies.
“The office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice wishes to assure Nigerians that Justice will be ensured in the matter to send a strong signal to the enemies of the country, acting under any disguise.
“The administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to the protection of lives and property of all as enshrined in the constitution.”
NPO Reported that the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, had in June 2025 announced the arrest of 28 suspects in connection to Yelewata attack by suspected armed herdsmen.
The attack which had since been declared a massacre led to the death of over 200 residents with several others injured.
It had sparked public outrage and demand for justice.
Sequel to the tragic incident, President Bola Tinubu paid a condolence visit to the victims of attack.
He ordered for the arrest if the perpetrators while addressing Benue stakeholders and security chiefs at the state government house in Makurdi.
