Fuels Speculation He Has Dropped Agitation Against Party’s Choice
Former National Secretary of the All Progressive Congress, Iyiola Omisore may have ended his agitation over the manner in which he was disqualified from the party’s nomination process last year.
Indications to this emerged on Monday after Omisore, a one-time Deputy Governor of Osun attended a meeting of Agba Osun, an apex body of party elders in the state held on Monday.
NPO Reports that Omisore had last year distanced himself from party activities after his ambition was thwarted after he was disqualified from contesting.
Omisore had rallied other disqualified candidates to protest their disqualification alleging irregularities and high handedness.
Omisore had said the party would lose in the coming governorship election should it field the preferred candidate, Bola Oyebanji.
Omisore had contested the state’s governorship election three times.
In 2014 Osun State governorship election, he ran on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and lost to the incumbent governor, Rauf Aregbesola.
In 2018, he contested under the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and came in third.
His last and third attempt was ended with his disqualification by the APC.
