West Africa’s foremost financial institution, FirstBank, has announced the launch of an advanced facial biometric technology on its mobile banking application, FirstMobile.
This was contained in a statement by the Group’s Acting Head of Marketing & Corporate Communications, Olayinka Ijabiyi, on Tuesday.
The newly launched features includes Facial recognition, sign-up and activation, virtual credit cards for secure online shopping, instant credit card activation, flexible salary advances with 3-month repayment options and general improvements, bug fixes.
According to the statement, the upgrade is in a bid to provide customers with a seamless, secure, and efficient digital banking experience.
The new upgrade enables users to activate or register on FirstBank’s mobile app- FirstMobile securely, using facial verification.
This feature also includes an advanced anti-spoof detection, to enhance customer account protection and ensure robust security.
These innovations are part of FirstBank’s ongoing strategy to deliver secure, swift, and user-friendly digital financial solutions tailored to the evolving needs of its over 43 million customers across Nigeria, Sub-Saharan Africa, and global markets.
According to Chukwuma Ezirim, Group Executive, E-Business and Retail Products Division at FirstBank, the rollout marks a transformative milestone in customer experience.
