Security agencies on Tuesday said they have arrested five suspected kidnappers in Ekiti State.
The development was made known in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Ekiti State Police Command.
According to the Command, the operation that led to the arrest of the five suspects was carried out by the Nigeria Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Oodua People’s Congress and local hunters.
The bush combing operation took place from Oke-Osun, Ikere/Igbo-Okah to the thick forest around Iju/Ikere boundary.
According to the statement, the arrested suspected kidnappers were identified as Usman Jelili, Mohammed Bande, Abubakar Aliu, Isah Abdullahi and Suleiman Abdulahi.
During interrogation, the suspects claimed to be herdsmen.
However, it was discovered that none of them had cattle and none was found with them in the forest, where they were arrested.
The following items were found with them: two motorcycles, one cutlass, one jack knife/dagger and four phones.
