The last may not have been heard of the Sunday of diversion of flight UNA 0504 to Asaba instead of its original destination Abuja as the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has reportedly suspended the airline’s wet-leased planes.
NPO Reports learnt that the NCAA has refused to accept the excuse given by the airlines management which cited poor weather as the reason for the diversion.
Head of Corporate Communication of the airlines, Achilles Chud-Uchegbu, in a statement last Sunday had explained that the Pilot of the aircraft was properly briefed on the diversion adding that the cabin crew had however made a wrong announcement when the plane landed in Asaba.
However, it was learnt that the Director General of the NCAA, Capt. Musa Nuhu, had summoned an emergency meeting to review the development and the explanations provided by the airline.
Not satisfied with the explanations, the NCAA was said to have agreed to suspend all aircrafts under wet-lease agreement with the airline pending the outcome of the investigations ordered into the Sunday incident.
