In the wake of the massive flood that ravaged Maiduguri on Tuesday, Nigerian Vice Preisdent, Kashim Shettima has arrived the Borno state capital city.
This was disclosed in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha.
As contained in the statement, Shettima, arrived at the flood infested capital city for an on-the-spot assessment.
He expressed deep concern over the situation while directing government agencies to provide relief for victims of the disaster.
“Disturbed by the devastating floods across the country, Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport en route to Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, for an on-the-spot assessment of the floods that have ravaged Maiduguri.

Vice President Shettima has expressed deep concern over the situation and has directed relevant government agencies to provide immediate relief to the affected communities.
“During his visit, the Vice President is expected to assess the extent of the damage, interact with the displaced residents, and oversee the ongoing relief efforts.
“He will also hold meetings with state and local government officials to coordinate a comprehensive response plan.” The statement read.
NPO earlier reported the directive issued by Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to the Shettima over the incident.
While also expressing his concern over the disaster, the President ordered Shetiima to visit the affected state and observe the situation.
