Contrary to reports being circulated online about Governor Sim Fubara ordering the shutdown of oil companies operating in River State, sources have said the claims are untrue.
NPO Reports gathered that Governor Fubara has called a number of party leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party who have called him to make inquiries about the development to say at no time did he make any order to the effect.
NPO Reports that the last few hours have witnessed online spread of information that Fubara ordered the shutting down of the NNPC and other oil companies purportedly in retaliation for the court order which stopped the allocation to his state.
“I can tell you categorically that Fubara has not make any such order. I have been bombarded with inquiries by many people and so I was forced to send him a message to ask if true he made such order.
The Governor didn’t just reply me, he called me to tell me that he never made any order like that. He said the fake news is being spread by those who want to give him a bad name.
“As a matter of fact, Fubara said he is sure that the public condemnation of the court decision on the stoppage of Rivers allocation have been so much that they must look for something to tarnish his image,” the source who is an elder of the PDP told the NPO Reports.
Attempts by the NPO Reports to confirm the development from the Governor himself was yet not successful as he didn’t pick his call.
A message to his phone number as well was not replied as at the time of writing this report.
