Popular actress and film maker, Funke Akindele Tuesday afternoon burst into tears after she was accused of showing no care for one of the actresses in the popular series, Jenifa’s Diary, Jumoke Aderounmu. Aderoumu died last week after allegedly being ill for some time.
Akindele, in her live instagram show which lasted about 4 minutes, said she had to come online over what she called persist online bullying by some people over the death of the actress.
According to her, she has become a target of online attacks over what did not know anything about. Akindele said it is true that the late actress worked with her on some of her major projects like Jenifa’s Diary and a few others, she said Aderounmu was paid and left.
She said this is normal for the industry for actors and actresses to take part in projects and go. She said few days ago, someone cursed her “May your bury your children” simply because she wished the Chief of Executive Officer of Amen Estate (where she lives) Happy Birthday. “What is my offence? The late Jumoke, I met her some years ago. I gave her some roles. She featured in them.
She acted her roles and got paid and left.” she said
She said a few times she had asked after some of her former cast members. She said she called Jide, the younger brother of the late actress adding that no one told her of anything about the condition of the lady till died. Akindele said she has done her bit of helping those she could but added that she does not make noise about. “I dont like it. I do whatever I am able to do. I watch Tiktok a lot, I see lots of talents. Those I can help I help them. That is me. Yes, I may strict but that does not mean I don’t help people,” she said
Akindele said the fact that she is a celebrity does not mean she doesnt go thruogh her own problems.
“When my mother died, I went through a lot too. I lost my mom. I was almost depressed,” she said amidst teary eyes.
