The Lagos State Gubernatorial Candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 elections, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has denied reports of joining the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He made the announcement via his X handle, @GRVLagos, on Wednesday.
“The news making the rounds that I’m about joining the APC is false.
Describing the APC as a congregation of jesters, he expressed solidarity with the people, stating that they deserve better than what the party has delivered in the last 24 years.
”I have no reason to join the gathering of the wicked or fellowship in the congregation of jesters.
“Just like I have done since the beginning of my political career, I stand firmly with the people who deserve better than what the APC has delivered over the last 24 years.”
Speaking on his political journey, Rhodes-Vivour stated that he never at any point in time had a potential discussion of joining the APC.
“I made a run for Governor in the PDP, when that did not work out, I joined the Labour Party
”At every point in time, I did not ever get into a potential discussion about joining the APC.
”It has never been something that has even crossed my mind and that is the advantage of operating from a place where one is content.
”Which is why unlike some that will insult, criticize and lead protests against one man in London and then turn around and become their biggest mouth piece.
”The government should work with the paramount interest of the people, this means the interests of the people supersedes their needs for cars, renovations, padded budgets and everything that allows them to continue leaving in luxury while so many of our people are suffering and cannot even eat three-square meals.” He said
