Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President, has threatened to file N10 billion lawsuit against the self-acclaimed Director- General of the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), Adeniyi Adeyemi.
Gbajabiamila reportedly demanded Adeniyi’s withdrawal of the corruption, murder and abuse of office allegations levelled against him.
The demand was contained in a letter dated July 6 and signed by the Chief of Staff’s legal representatives, Kemi Pinheiro (SAN).
Recall that Adeniyi had in a press conference last week alleged paying N400 million bribe to Gbajabiamila while also accusing the COS of seeking a share of the alleged take-off funds allocated to PFIPC, an agency the presidency had since declared fake with Adeniyi labelled an impostor.
Gbajabiamila, in the letter issued by his legal counsel, held that the allegations were false, malicious and defamatory.
The legal team rejected claims that the Chief of Staff sought a share of the alleged take-off grant of the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, received money through proxies, abused his office or participated in criminal activities.
Gbajabiamila’s lawyers demanded that Adeyemi, within 72 hours, stop making or publishing further defamatory statements, remove the disputed materials from all platforms under his control and issue a full retraction and apology.
They also requested that the apology be published in at least five national newspapers, across all platforms where the allegations appeared and on every social media account used to circulate them.
The letter warned that failure to comply would result in civil and criminal proceedings, including a N10 billion defamation suit, an injunction restraining further publications and a court order compelling a public retraction and apology.
