Human rights activist, Harrison Gwaminshu, has called out the Nigeria Police Force over alleged sales of a kidnapped victim’s vehicle by a senior officer following his release from the kidnappers’ den.
Basil Chukwuebuka, an indigene of Awka Etiti, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra state was reportedly kidnapped on the 28th of February 2024 at Igboukwu area of the state.
He however regained his freedom following the payment of the ransom demanded by the kidnappers three days after his abduction.
As narrated in a post shared on X on Wednesday by Gwaminshu, the kidnappers had during the abduction of Chukwuebuka abandoned his vehicle, a GLK 350 Mercedes Benz, which was recovered by the police and parked at the Anambra Command Headquarters in Awka, the state’s capital.
However, the kidnapped victim had, according to Gwaminshu, been unable to retrieve the car since his release.
He alleged that a senior officer, identified as IPO Tochukwu, had sold the vehicle after closing Chukwuebuka’s case.
“Basil Chukwuebuka, frrom Awka Etiti, Idemili South LGA, Anambra State was kidnapped on 28th February, 2024 at Igboukwu, Anambra State.
