A member of the National Youths Service Corps, Ushie Rita, has raised alarm over concerns for her safety, calling on the public to hold the NYSC board accountable should any harm come to her.
NPO reports that the corps member had earlier taken to her tiktok page @talktoraye to express distress over the soaring cost of living particularly as a youth corper.
The corps member further stated that it is overwhelming for her especially as it is the first time she will be living alone.
“I just want to say this to our President, I don’t know if there has been any other President that has been terrible but I just want to say you are a terrible person.
“Every single money I have been making is been used to pay bills. Why are things so expensive?
“There is nothing beneficial about being an NYSC cooper, the money I spend on transportation alone is just more than the allowance the government gives me.
“President Tinubu, what are you doing to help the economy?
“I’m tired of paying bills, I don’t have any achievement of my own, every single money I’m making is going back to bills.” she lamented
Barely 24 hours after she made the video which has now gone viral, Raye posted another video with a recorded phone conversation between her and an official of the NYSC from the secretariat.
The NYSC official could be heard instructing her to take down her initial video.
“Are you normal?
“Common keep quiet there and pull down that rubbish, you are not talking to your mate.”
Additionally, she also released screenshots of threats she has received from an individual on Tiktok and others reaching out to her via Whatsapp to pull down the video.
However, according to the NYSC bye-law, If a corps member is found to have insulted the state, they could face disciplinary action, potentially including appearing before a camp court or a state disciplinary committee.
Raye has therefore called on the public to hold the board accountable if anything happens to her as they have all her personal details including her phone number as well as her house address.
NPO Reports recalls that the Federal Government defaulted in its promise to commence the payment of N77k allowance for corps members from February.
