Human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, has accused the Department of State Services (DSS) of rushing to fix the hearing of his trial in a bid to frustrate his participation in the protest by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) for the release of its imprisoned leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
NPO Reported that the Federal High Court had on Thursday threatened to revoke the bail granted the activist over his absence during the hearing of his case.
Meanwhile, Sowore had joined the IPOB protesters at Aba Market in Abia state while the court case was ongoing.
Reacting to the court’s threat in a post shared on his X handle on Friday, the activist accused the DSS of fixing the hearing to the same day he had planned to participate in the protest.
He disclosed that the court had originally fixed March 24 as the next date for the hearing which his lawyers disagreed with.
“Regarding my absence from the Tinubu’s DSS trial yesterday When we arrived at the Federal High Court on March 5, 2026, the judge was absent and his registrar fixed March 24 as the next date.
“Because parties couldn’t agree, our lawyers wrote requesting a new date.” Sowore said.
He alleged that DSS had in a bid to sabotage his plan to join the #FreeNnamKanu protest shifted the date.
“The moment the lawless DSS heard we were heading to Aba for the #FreeNnamdiKanu protest, the hearing was suddenly fixed for the same day, yesterday) in order to frustrate me from attending the historic rally.
“The games are obvious. Nothing can defeat an idea whose time has come.!” Sowore added.
