Actor and Director, Bayo Akinfemi, best known for his role in the popular sitcom Bob Hearts Abishola, has shared his journey, on how he made it in hollywood
On a YouTube talk show with Popular comedian, Teju Babyface, the actor opened up about his experiences, shedding light on the challenges and triumphs he faced while pursuing his education and how it shaped his path to acting.
Akinfemi stated that he followed his dream without chasing the money by just doing what he loved.
“I just followed my dream, I wasn’t thinking about money, I just wanted to do something I loved.
“I was doing plays in church, and all through high school and I thought, why not just go for it.”
“I’m just an Ijesha boy, I didn’t grow up in Lagos, so I didn’t have exposure to all those things.
Narrating his experience on Canada, he stated the things he had to do to survive.
“I went to Canada in 1998, my wife was there and the first thing I did was to go to film school.
“I had the opportunity to really pursue my dream. After film school, I started working as a production assistant.
“There was nothing I didn’t do while I was in film school while trying to survive.
“I drove a taxi at night and worked in construction.
“I go to school in the morning, drive taxi in the evening, on weekends to work in construction, painting, I did all of that.” he said.
Bayo who was born and raised in Ilesa, Nigeria played ‘Goodwin Olayiwola’ in Bob Hearts Abishola.
He is also an Assistant Professor of Practice: Acting & Directing in the Schools of Dramatic and Cinematic Arts.
