The Lagos State Police Command has explained what led to the killing of a man with Okada riders seen riding on him severally.
NPO Reported earlier that a man was killed by hoodlums and commercial motorcycles riders rode over his corpse several times to ensure he was dead.
Lagos State Command spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin, while explaining the incident on Saturday, said the man whose corpse was lying on the road was among touts allegedly recruited by some policemen to join them in an illegal operation.
However, luck ran out for the policemen and the touts they recruited as the Okada riders mobilized and attacked them.
Hundeyin said the two police officers were officially attached to the Lagos State Taskforce, saying the incident happened on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.
Hundeyin stated, “They came under attack from motorcycle riders, resulting in the death of one of the civilians.
“While disciplinary actions have commenced on the already detained police officers, and search is on for their civilian accomplices, investigations have commenced to identify, arrest and prosecute the perpetrators of this dastardly act.”
