The president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas has explained the confusion which followed the death of one of its members, John Paul Odowondo, popularly called Junior Pope.
Junior Pope had drowned in the River Niger end of Anna River in Anambra on Wednesday while on movie recording session. He died with others who drowned when their boat collided with another.
After media reports of his death, there was a twist in the story as he was said to have been revived. However the jubilation was short-lived as the actor was confirmed dead shortly afterwards.
According to Rollas, “It is so so sad that our joy was shortlived.” saying this after his colleague was pronounced dead by the hospital. The death of the actor and others has thrown the entertainment industry into mourning. Just today, the Guild announced a No-Shoot Day to honour Junior Pope.
