President Tinubu is doing exactly what he promised to do or what you were warned he was going to do
A human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong has reminded Nigerians that President Bola Tinubu promised to drag more citizens into the tax net.
Effiong said the president also promised to reduce the purchasing power of the people. The human rights lawyer, in a tweet seen by the NPO Reports, accused the present administration of ignoring the sufferings of the people.
“President Tinubu is doing exactly what he promised to do or what you were warned he was going to do.
“So what is the cacophony of his supporters about?
“If your support for his candidacy was actuated by ideological inclination or policy preferences, why are you suddenly disturbing us with your pretentious noises on X?
“You told us to respect your choice of candidate, and the man you chose is doing what he promised to do and you’re crying.
“Isn’t this a sign of mental degeneracy?
“Your fatalistic political leaning has led us here so just be quiet.” Recall that the government recently introduced the cybersecurity levy which all online transactions are expected to pay through their banks. Already, there are reports that government is also eyeing taxes from telephone calls. Government had last year at the inauguration of President Tinubu, announced the removal of petroleum subsidy. The removal of the subsidy has precipitated a chain of reactions in the economy leading to hardship among the people.
