A former Minister of Communication Technology, Mrs. Omobola Johnson, has lauded men of the Lagos State Fire service who rose to the occasion by putting out the fire at a plastic factory in Lagos on Saturday. Johnson, who took to her X handle on Saturday, said the inferno happened in a factory next to a printing press belonging to her brother-in-law. NPO Reported on Saturday an early morning fire outbreak at a plastic factory at the Ilupeju Industrial Estate where firemen were battling with the incident. The former minister under the Goodluck Jonathan administration said despite being exhausted, the fire officials still kept battling until the fire was put out. “Today there was a raging fire in a plastics factory next to my brother in law’s printing press. I want to commend the LASG fire service…they worked relentlessly to put the fire out….firemen were exhausted but kept on working….tax payers money at work,” she wrote, commending Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the work. The Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Adeseye Margaret , had given an update while her officials were battling with the inferno saying, “The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service is currently fighting an industrial Fire at Mega Plastic, Ilupeju bye pass, Mushin, Lagos.
“The emergency alert that was received at 07:26 hours Saturday has Ilupeju, Bolade and Alausa Fire Stations in attendance to bring about the situation under control.
“The storage and factory sections of the the petro-chemical company are affected as the Fire is being curtailed.
“No injury nor death as thus far been recorded.
