A Grade ‘A’ Customary Court in Mapo, Ibadan has, on Friday, ordered the remand of one Oluwatosin Oladimeji, 32, a furniture maker, standing trial for alleged N500,000 fraud.
The court’s President, Mrs S.M. Akintayo, ordered the remand of the defendant at the Agodi Correctional Centre, Ibadan, following his inability to meet the N200,000 bail and other conditions granted him.
Oladimeji had pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of obtaining by false pretenses and theft.
The court’s President subsequently adjourned the case until 17th of February for hearing.
Earlier, the police prosecutor, Insp Ayodele Ayeni had told the court that Oladimeji committed the crime in March 2024, around Real Event Centre, Ashi area of Ibadan, Oyo State.
The prosecutor alleged that the defendant, a furniture maker obtained N500,000 from one Kabiru Bello on the pretext of helping him to repair some chairs.
He told the court that the defendant instead converted the money to his personal use without executing the job.
Ayeni said that the offences contravened the provisions of sections 419 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol. II Laws of Oyo State 2000.
