The Peoples Democratic Party on Thursday said the decision of a Federal High Court which voided the primary election which produced its governorship candidate, Asue Ighodalo,
NPO Reported earlier that Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, had set aside the PDP’s primary election that produced Asue Ighodalo as the party’s candidate for the September 21 governorship election in Edo State.
The court had held that the PDP’s primary election held on February 22 failed to comply with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022; the guidelines for the conduct of the poll, and the party’s constitution.
Many followers of the Edo Politics have concluded that the decision of the court has nullified the choice of Ighodalo as the candidate of the party.
However, Tony Aziegbemi, PDP state chairman in the state, in a statement swiftly released after the verdict said the candidate was not affected by the decision of the court.
