The ousted president of the Niger Republic, Mohammed Bazoum, has alleged that he is being fed on dry rice. He also alleged that he is being kept in isolation and denied access to anyone.
NPO Reports learn that Bazoum’s message was passed to a friend via short messages service (sms) on Wednesday calling for the international community to expedite action on the Niger crisis.
Military men kicked out the Bazoum administration two weeks ago while the president was placed on house arrest.
There have been an outcry from the international community over the coup.
The junta has vowed not to allow any external pressure be placed on it saying the people of Niger are good enough to know what they want.
The Economic Community of West Africa is contemplating a military action to force the solders back to the barracks and reinstate Bazoum. Many are calling for diplomacy.
