Former Head of State Yakubu Gowon, has said he is not in a hurry to go now.
His statement came on the heels of media reports that he had died on Monday.
Adeyeye Ajayi, the personal aide to Gowon, debunked the rumoured death of his book.
On Monday, some social media users claimed that Gowon had passed away.
In a statement released by AJAYI, said the former military leader is alive.
“I am still around and well. I am not in a hurry,” the statement quoted the former military leader as saying.
Gowon, who ruled the country during the Nigerian three years of civil war, was born in 1934.
He served as the head of state between August 1, 1966 and July 29, 1975.
He was the youngest Nigerian leader having taken over power at the age of 31.
Since been out of power, Gowon has been involved in many engagements around keeping Nigeria together.
