The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has affirmed the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction backed by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, as it recognised the faction’s National Working Committee (NWC) on its portal.
INEC, in an update on the portal, declared the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led NWC as the leaders of the party.
This is coming weeks after the Supreme Court’s ruling which nullified the PDP leadership of the Tanimu Turaki-led faction while affirming the Mohammed-led NWC as the party leaders.
The PDP further announced the development in a post shared on its X handle on Tuesday.
It described the development as an end to the lingering debate over its leadership.
“The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) appears to have put to rest the lingering debate over the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following the update of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) list on its official portal.” The post read.
INEC’s portal, as confirmed by NPO Reports, affirmed Mohammed as the PDP’s National Chairman with Sen. Samuel Anyanwu as the party’s National Secretary.
Other national leaders of the party recognised by the commission include Odeyemei Mackson Oladiran, National Treasurer; Eyim Donatus Henry, National Financial Secretary; and Kamaldeen Adeyemi Ajibade (SAN), National Legal Adviser.
