The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has updated the profile of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on its portal with the new National Working Committee (NWC) executives elected at the Nyesom Wike-backed faction’s National Convention recognised as the leaders of the party.
NPO Reported that the faction backed by the Federal Capital Territory’s (FCT) Minister had on Sunday held its convention at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium.
The convention saw the former caretaker committee chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed, elected as the new National Chairman of the party with Samuel Anyanwu also retaining his spot as the party’s National Secretary.
Mohammed and other members of the NWC were elected by the over 2,000 delegates drawn from the 36 states that participated in the exercise.
In attendance at the event wereex-Senate President, Bukola Saraki; former governors Ayodele Fayose (Ekiti), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), and Samuel Ortom (Benue), among others.
With INEC officials present at the event, the commission would on Monday update its portal with the Mohammed-led PDP NWC recongised as they party’s leaders.
Other leaders recognised on the portal are the newly elected National Treasurer, Ahmed Yayari Mohammed; National Financial Secretary, Daniel Woyengikuro; and National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Adeyemi Ajibade (SAN).
The development served as a huge blow to the Tanimu Turaki-led faction who were elected at the November 2025 National Convention held in Ibadan, Oyo state.
