An Oyo State High Court has granted bail to ex–Ooni’s queen, Naomi Silekunola, owner of a indigenous radio station, Agidigbo FM, Oriyomi Hazmat, and the Principal of Islamic High School, Bashorun, Abdullahi Fasasi.
The ruling was pronounced by Justice Kamorudeen Olawoyin of the Oyo State High Court, on Monday following a bail application filed by the Counsels of the trio.
The Court fixed Monday for the ruling after Silekunola, Hazmat and Fasasi’s lawyer on January 7 argued the bail application.
The Judge gave five conditions for the bail to include: N10 million and two sureties who must submit landed documents within the jurisdiction of the court.
The court also ruled that Oriyomi’s organisation must not broadcast the news.
The defendants argued their bail applications before the court last Tuesday but the court later ruled that the defendants should be remanded in prison till today (Monday) for a ruling on their bail application.
NPO reports that last week, the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, had vowed that the state would prosecute the defendants.
The defendants have been in prison custody since December 24, following their arrest by the police.
They were arrested over a tragic children’s funfair which claimed the lives 35 children following a stampede at the Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan.
