Former Senate President, David Mark, has officially assumed role as the interim National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
NPO Reported that Mark was yesterday appointed as the party’s interim National Chairman with former Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, as the interim National Secretary following the adoption of the ADC by the National Opposition Coalition Group (NOCG).
The ex-Senate President was formally declared as the new national leader during the unveiling of the party as coalition party on Wednesday at the Yar’Adua event centre, Abuja.
Prior to the event, a mild drama ensued as the management of the initial venue, Wells Carlton Hotels, cancelled the coalition group’s booking.
This led to the change of venue to the Yar’Adua event centre which witness large influx of opposition leaders.
Present at the event were the 2023 Labour Party’s Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Yusuf Datti
Also present are former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar; former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha; and former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar (retd.).
Other include Labour Party lawmaker, Sen. Ireti Kinigbe; Senator Victor Umeh, and Senator Eyinaya Abaribe, amongst others.
