Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, is set to begin a three-weeks medical leave from the 18th of August.
This is coming barely a month after the governor’s involvement in a road accident along Daura-Katsina road.
While this was not cited as reason for the medical leave, the Radda in a statement issued on Thursday by the state Commissioner for Information and Culture, Dr Bala Salisu-Zango, expressed his commitment to return to serve the people of the state with renewed energy and dedication after this medical leave.
The governor, as quoted in the statement by Bala, simply harped on the need to address his health concerns before returningto duty.
“I want to thank everyone for their kind words and ongoing support.
“Taking the necessary steps to prioritize my health is essential, so I can continue to serve effectively and make the best decisions for our state.
“I look forward to returning to my duties as soon as I finish my medical check up” Radda was quoted to have said.
Meanwhile, Bala further revealed that to ensure seamless governance and continued leadership, the Deputy Governor, Malam Faruk Lawal-Jobe, would assume the responsibilities of governance.
The governor, according to him, expressed confidence in Lawal-Jobe’s ability to lead and manage affairs with the same dedication and commitment.
“We wish to assure the public that all ongoing initiatives, programmes and projects will continue to progress without interruption,” the commissioner added.
NPO Reported that Radda was on Sunday, 21st of July, rushed to the hospital after an accident on the Daura-Katsina Road.
The governor was reportedly returning back to Katsina from Daura, where he had been receiving condolence visit over the passing of the ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, when the incident occurred.
However, as against claim that her husband sustained a fracture, Katsina State First Lady, Fatima Dikko Radda, dismissed the claim in a post on her X handle where she shared a video of the governor from his sick bed.
Prior to the incident, the death of Buhari tend to have taken toil on the governor as he was captured crying at the burial of the ex-President in Daura.
