The Kebbi State Government has approved the reopening of schools across the state, with effect from Monday, January 5, 2026.
The directive was contained in a letter signed by the Public Relations Officer, Kebbi State Universal Basic Education Board, Isah Ibrahim, and the Deputy Director (Academics) of the Ministry for Basic and Secondary Education, Aliyu Bagarawa.
It applies to all public and private educational institutions in the state.
According to the letter, the reopening follows a temporary closure that was implemented to ensure safety and allow for necessary administrative preparations.
School administrators, teachers, parents, students, and Education Secretaries have been urged to take note of the development and ensure full compliance.
School heads are expected to make adequate arrangements to guarantee a smooth and safe resumption of academic activities.
Parents and guardians have also been advised to ensure that their children and wards return to school promptly, as academic sessions will commence without delay.
NPO Reports recalls that the state government had ordered the closure of all public and private schools following the abduction of 25 students of Government Day Secondary School, Maga, in Zuru Local Government Area by bandits.
