Father of Nigeria’s Minister of State for Labour and Productivity, Festus Keyamo has died.
A statement by the family indicated that Pa Mathias Keyamo died at the age of 83 in Delta State.
In a statement on Sunday by Keyamo’s Media Aide, Tunde Moshood burial details will be announced later by the family.
It read, “The minister of state for Labour and employment, Festus Keyamo lost his dad. He passed on peacefully at the age of 83 on Saturday, March 5th, 2022 in Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta from where the family hails.
“Born on August 23rd, 1938, in Erovie Quarters in Effurun, Delta State, Pa Matthias Keyamo was later raised in Kaduna and Ilaro, Ogun State where he met and married his wife, Mrs. Caroline Keyamo (nee Ogunjobi).
In his condolence message, President Muhammadu Buhari described the deceased as one who cherished friendship.
In a condolence message released by his spokesman, Malam Garba Shehu, on Sunday in Abuja, the president joined members of the Keyamo family, friends and the people of Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State in mourning Pa Keyamo.
He described the deceased as a respected community leader, who loved his children with great passion and did his best to prepare them for leadership positions and opportunities.
The president added that late Keyamo was a father who deeply cherished the benefits of friendship and mutual respect to people, irrespective of their background.
Buhari believed that the deceased was an embodiment of Nigeria’s greatness and rich diversity, having spent some of his adult life in Kaduna and Ilaro, Ogun State, before settling in Ughelli.
The president urged the family of Keyamo to draw inspiration from the strength of character of their beloved father and grandfather, and prayed that God would comfort them at this time.
”May the soul of the departed rest in peace,” the president prayed.
