In the wake of the alleged abduction of Nigerian music legend, King Sunny Ade, the singer’s son and manager, Dayo Adegeye, has confirmed his safety while dismissing his sister’s claim of kidnapping their father.
NPO Reported that a Nigerian journalist, Olawale Olaleye, had yesterday raised alarm over the whereabout of the Sunny Ade.
Olaleye had in Facebook post shared on his handle on Monday, recounted his futile efforts to reach out to the musician in respect to friend’s birthday party.
He narrated how a friend of his linked him up with a lady identified as Damilola Adeniyi, who claimed to be Sunny Ade’s daughter.
According to the post, Damilola had been claiming on her social media page that her father has been kidnapped.
She alleged that Dayo and his other siblings had abducted Sunny Ade in the name of managing him while forcing him to work under duress.
Reacting to the allegation in a statement issued on Monday evening, Dayo denied the rumor, describing it as a malicious attempt to tarnish the legendary musician’s image.
He maintained that Sunny Ade is safe and in good condition as against rumour of his kidnap.
Adegeye vowed to address the situation and identify those responsible for spreading the false information.
“We want to assure the public that King Sunny Ade is safe and sound,” Adegeye emphasized.
“There is no truth to the kidnapping rumor, and we are taking appropriate steps to address the situation and identify those responsible for spreading this false information.” He said.
Adegeye further reassured fans and well-wishers that the King of World Beats, King Sunny Ade, is not abducted or kidnapped by anyone.
He maintained that the family and the musician’s team are working diligently to put an end to the rumor and protect his reputation.
Adegeye held that Sunny Ade is in good health and spirits, and his focus remains on his music and legacy.
