Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) has, yesterday, cracked down miscreants along Lagos coastal areas over various degrees environmental offences.
As seen in a video posted on X by the state’s Commissioner of Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, the enforcement agency, in joint surveillance operation with the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Army, stormed the illegal residence of the miscreants.
Their makeshift buildings were dismantled, especially at restricted coastal areas across Lagos Island , with 68 arrests made.
Wahab, in his post, disclosed that the arrested suspects will be charged to court in accordance to Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law.
His post read; “During a joint operation between the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), the Nigerian Police Force, and the Nigerian Army, 68 miscreants were arrested while conducting surveillance operation of the coastal road, Ikoyi, Oniru Beach, and other parts of the Lagos Island.
“The arrested individuals will be charged to court in accordance with the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law.”
