Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has, on Tuesday, paid a visit to President Bola Tinubu in Abuja over the ongoing leadership crisis within the state House of Assembly.
The GAC, who had earlier met with the Lagos lawmakers on Monday night, visited Tinubu to brief him of the outcome of the meeting.
While the GAC’s discussion with the President is undisclosed, then Council had ordered the lawmakers to write a letter of apology to Tinubu for not informing him about Mudashiru Obasa’s impeachment process.
NPO reported that 32 out of 40 members of the Lagos Assembly had on the 13th of January voted for the impeachment of Obasa as its Speaker.
He was replaced by his Deputy Speaker, Mojisola Meranda.
However, Obasa’s return and rejection of his impeachment has caused stir with the leadership of the Assembly as well as the Lagos APC.
This was evident during the meeting between the GAC and lawmakers where some members of the Council, Senator Anthony Adefuye and Muraino Taiwo, labelled Obasa’s impeachment as illegal.
According to reports, President Tinubu had also on Sunday called for the resignation of Meranda and reinstatement of Obasa as the House Speaker.
